I guess it depends what you’re looking for in a camera Neil. I wouldn’t be without mine. Had it a few years now. I brought it when they were first released. If I lost it today, I would replace it with another one tomorrow.
I use a Novagrade Universal Smartphone adapter. I keep my phone in its Otterbox permanently. I have adjusted the Novagrade adapter to accept the phone in the Otterbox Defender case. I prefer to keep my phone in it's everday case rather than swap cases when I go out birding.

I have been using the Canon G3X as a general nature camera rather than a dedicated birding camera. I am stil pleased with the results. Recently I have been trying various ways to photograph badgers in almost complete darkness.
