Thanks Brian, it is a strange event for the Shovelers this winter and I'm not sure if other counties are seeing unusually high numbers. To put it into context, the previous best county record was about 32 IIRC. Wigeon, Teal and Gadwall numbers have been high but not record breaking but nothing...

Well done for seeing the Lesser Scaup, its been showing very well this weekend.
One thing that jumps out however is the random numbers on the rest of your counts. Accurate counting is a good way of checking through all the birds present and quite often the way the more unusual ducks...
Herefordshire is not great I know, but slightly better than listed. Currently 273 including Cream-coloured Courser and Siberian Stonechat, both pending with BBRC and a Ruddy Shelduck from recently.
