  • Lockdown walk this morning. I honestly believe the Test Valley is as good as New Forest for Hawfinches. Other highlights seen today in 5 miles were Firecrest, Golden Plover, Brambling, Redpoll, a nice flock of Yellowhammer and Reed Buntings, Red Kite and Peregrine.

Two more Hawfinches this morning, Mottisfont area. Plus some good set side areas with a few finches and Yellowhammers.

Into full lockdown now, so even the Test Valley is off limits for the next few weeks. Local dog walks from home have brought me Firecrest, and Shelduck, plus a nice flock of Lapwing.
Enjoyable day on Hampshire coast and New Forest. Started well with a GN Diver and Marsh Harrier, finished well with 4 Spoonbill. Just the New Forest bit in the middle that went a bit flat. 85 species for the day. I've a feeling no.86 was out of site behind a bank at Keyhaven, being well and truly mobbed by a Peregrine!
Can probably say, I've spent more time fixing this and trying to set it up correctly, than actually listening to it's recordings!

Battered and nearly severed in two. We are patched up, patched, and good to go!
