    Walrus in Ireland

Well I had a great day there watching him but I'm still gripped by those photos.

    Sei whale Scotland

It was showing off Kinghorn at 12 yesterday. I haven't seen any news either way for today. It does sound like it can be a struggle to see even when it's there. I think I probably won't be making the long journey up but good luck to anyone who goes.

    Sei whale Scotland

I haven't really followed the details but there's been several sighting of Sei whale in Scotland recently and I know it has been seen and Kinghorn today. What I don't know is how well it's be showing. Anyone got any better details?

    Walrus in Ireland

We arrived at 1030 and left about 4, although we were in touch with people still on site until about 8. It was always pretty close in and came slightly out of the water onto the ramp twice. However it always kept part of its body submerged. It was very sunny and fairly warm I wonder if it's now...

    Walrus in Ireland

A friend of mine was there from 730 - 1230 today. It was on show for most of that time and at the beginning and towards the end came within 100m - it was distant most of the time - but didn't haul itself out.

    Walrus in Ireland

Well apart from the fact that I'm not meant to go yet, I'm not far enough along the post-covid recovery route to do that drive and then do my first day back at work the day after. But if anyone gets news next week, especially on the Friday, please do share it as I intend to go next Saturday, if...

    65 or 80mm Telescope

I maybe miss quoting slightly but I remember a review from a long while ago of scopes saying something like there's no point in having the best scope in the world if it stays in the boot of your car because it's too heavy to lug around.

Suppression vs reporting; birders’ obligations during lockdown.

It was the source of the infamous George Michael quote and Owen is correct it was 2010.

Suppression vs reporting; birders’ obligations during lockdown.

I watched that and really hoped by non-birding friends hadn't. It was cringe worthy. I hadn't taken twitching seriously for some time but I think that was the point for me when I really realised that, although I wasn't completely hanging up my twitching boots, I really wasn't going to take it...

    65 or 80mm Telescope

I presently have all options covered with 50mm, 65mm and 82mm. Most my life I've gone for 60/65 and would always go for that being the best compromise. My 82mm is great to look through but doesn't get used much.
