Cheers pal. What do I know eh? :) :) Now if only it was a hoplosternum thoracatum or something, I`d have a chance :)

Is this a young great tit? Central Scotland.

Thanks Delia. Speaking to my wife about this and she tells me she took some shots a few weeks ago when I was at work. I think it`s definately a young robin but I also think she may have got a young thrush too. (3rd pic) They are quite scarce in my garden for some reason. 4th pic is from last...

Is this a young great tit? Central Scotland.

And as if by magic, they`re all back again. And some. My missus is struggling to keep them all fed now :) I`ve had a robin frequent the garden for a few winters now but what appears to be a juvenile has turned up. I`ve seen his/her breast get redder in the last 2 weeks as it was quite pale when...

Can anyone advise if it`s normal for the birds to stop frequenting your garden completely? I have a couple of feeders and all year have had sometimes 50 starlings at one time plus the usual blue tits, sparrows etc. Even the pigeons don`t come near now. I can`t understand why. This was in June...

Can I upgrade the Nikkor 70-300mm lens?

I must apologise. I listed the wrong lens in the OP. I was speaking from memory and got it wrong. It`s this one I have Nikon 55-300mm f4.5-5.6 G AF-S DX VR Lens | Wex Photo Video But on further research, even if I got a TC to fit, it may not be the best option.

Can I upgrade the Nikkor 70-300mm lens?

With a teleconverter? I have the D5300 that came with this lens Nikon AF-P DX NIKKOR 70-300mm f4.5-6.3G ED VR Now that I`m getting into the birding scene a bit more, I was wondering if a 2 x teleconverter would work? Like this one Nikon TC-20E AF-S Teleconverter III | Wex Photo Video I see...

Comment by 'TheFifeFlyer' in media 'House sparrows (I think)'

Thanks mate. I did take a better shot (or I think so) but posted elsewhere on the forum today. I only recently joined the forum and just realised there was a 'gallery' section today. Andy

    Seafield to Kinghorn

The wife and I walked from Kinghorn to Kdy this morning. It was a grey, murky morning with the sea haar spoiling any chances of decent photos. Bearing in mind, am very new to birding. I`ve always liked looking and photographing, but the names never really bothered me. Now it`s time to start...

haha just goes to show what I know. I was sure we had a yellow tit in this country, but further searching says not unless I live in Taiwan :) Who was it that said "no such thing as a dumb question" :)

Thanks guys. Damn......I thought it was a 1st :) Hopefully it`s one of the family that fledged a month ago from the box close to that feeder.
