Identification

Length 9-12 cm, mass 8-10 g
Dull olive green with a yellow rump and yellow wing bars.

Distribution

Eastern Africa: Coastal Kenya and Tanzania; northern Mozambique and south-eastern Malawi.

Taxonomy

Monotypic[1]

Two subspecies are recognised by some authors (simplex and hylodytes[2]

Habitat

Dense forest undergrowth and forest edges.

Behaviour

Diet

Their diet consists of fruit (particularly mistletoe berries), seeds and insects.
