Female has an all black bill
Distribution
Western South America: found in Peru and Ecuador.

- Arid littoral of western Peru
- A. a. caeruleigularis:
- Foothills of south-western Peru (Nazca Valley in Ica)
- A. a. alticola:
- Amazilia Hummingbird (Loja): Andes of southern Ecuador - sometimes accepted as full species
Habitat
Tropical rainforest, parks, woodlands
Behaviour
The diet includes nectar and insects.
