Identification

A slim, dark Cuckoo-shrike. 25cm.

  • Dark overall
  • Strong black bars on white belly and vent
  • Relatively long tail without white tips
  • Male with grey throat and upper breast, female with entire underparts barred

Distribution

Endemic to the Andaman Islands, India.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species.
It was split from Bar-bellied Cuckoo-shrike.[1][2]

Habitat

Moist lowland forests and mangrove forests. Forest and forest edge.

Behaviour

Usually seen in pairs, often joining bird waves. Keeps fairly high in trees.
Breeding not described.
