Distribution

South America: found in Ecuador and southwestern Colombia.

Taxonomy

A member of the Ramphastidae family. Gould, 1851. ====Subspecies==]] This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

High elevations, approaching 9,000' in subtropical or tropical moist montanes.

Behaviour

Diet

Toucans are frugivorous birds. A variety of insects for protein are also eaten, especially during their nesting cycle.

Breeding

They lay 3-4 white eggs. Incubation takes about 16 days, and young fledge the nest at 46-50 days.
