Identification
Distribution
Found in Bolivia and Argentina.
Taxonomy
Three subspecies recognized:
- A. t. torquatus in the Andes of extreme southern Peru and northwestern Bolivia
- A. t. fimbriatus in the Andes of Bolivia
- A. t. borelli in the Andes of southern Bolivia and northwest Argentina
It was formerly included in Stripe-headed Brush Finch. It has in the past been placed in genus Atlapetes and is also placed in Buarremon by some authorities.

Behaviour
Usually fouraging on ground or very low in undergrowth.
