Identification

31–36 cm

  • Bluish-grey head
  • White throat
  • Black speckled white hind collar

Distribution

Asia: found from India to western China, Tibet, Myanmar, north-western Thailand and Taiwan

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Temperate deciduous evergreen forests, mainly oak and chestnut.

Behaviour

Diet

A mainly frugivorous species, supplement their diet with acorns, seeds, grain, small berries and snails.
