Identification
- Just over 10 centimeters/ 4 inches
- Pale gray stripe top of head
- Black shaded stripe on side of head
- Noticeable yellow ring around eye
- Mandible dark on top, pale orange on bottom
- Legs a muted shade of pink
- Male & Female plumage looks nearly the same
- Female usually smaller
- Juvenile's stripe on top of head all green
- Juvenile more muted yellow underneath than adult
Distribution
This species has been spotted in China, Indochina, Asia, Southeast Asia, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, and Vietnam.
Wintering to the south including, for example, Thailand.

This is a polytypic species[1] consisting of 2 subspecies:
This is one of six species that used to be considered one under the name of Golden-spectacled Warbler. After the split, the other five are Green-crowned Warbler, Grey-crowned Warbler, Alström's Warbler, Whistler's Warbler, and Martens's Warbler.

Habitat
When breeding, they tend toward thick growth closer to the ground in deciduous and evergreen leafy trees and conifer areas in temperate areas. The altitudes they are found depend on the location and breeding or non-breeding season.

While no studies of their diet are available, it is believed to be insects they find, after limited flights, in the upper level of the trees they inhabit.
