Estrilda perreini

Identification

Small (10.5-11 cm). Grey wth red rump and upper tail-coverts and black line through eye. Similar to Cindarella Waxbill, but darker grey without red on lower flanks, and tail longer.

Distribution

Africa south of the equator.

  • E. p. incana

Habitat

Open woodland and forest edges.

Behaviour

Found singly or in pairs.

Diet

Forages on ground close to or under dense cover for grass seeds, nectar and insects.
