Identification

Heavy black bill, with horn-coloured tip and edges
Male: grey brown, black head and throat, greyish-white ear coverts.
Female and Immature: brown overall, lacking the head markings of the male.
Similar Species
Santa Cruz Shrikebill, Fiji Shrikebill, Western Wattled Honeyeater, Eastern Wattled Honeyeater, Northern Wattled Honeyeater and female Golden Whistler.
Distribution
Fiji (Viti Levu, Vanua Levu, Taveuni, Ovalau, Kadavu).
Taxonomy
Monotypic[1]. Previously considered conspecific with Santa Cruz Shrikebill
Habitat
Dense closed-canopy native forest.
