Identification
19 cm. Notice head and bill shape gives a dove-like impression
Male
- Turquoise blue plumage
- Dark blue wing, throat, and belly patches
- Black around eye and in area on back
Female
- All over scaly impression due to dark brown feathers broadly edged buff
- Includes buffy throat and eye-ring

Distribution
Panama, Colombia, Ecuador, and extreme western Venezuela.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Tropical moist forest, essentially in lowland.
Behaviour
Mostly at the canopy or even on a branch protruding above the canopy. Fruit is main food source.
