Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].
Formerly placed in the genus Tockus.

Habitat

Open mopane woodland and mixed thornveld.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet consists of large insects, such as beetles, termites, ants and locusts with the addition of a variety of seeds and other plant material.
