  • Black mottled brown body
  • Brownish-grey iris

    • Brown upper mandible
    • Horn lower

Distribution

Australasia: found only in the Solomon Islands.
A little known species. Common on New Georgia.

  • C. m. albidiventris:
  • C. m. milo:
  • Southern Solomon Islands (Guadalcanal and Florida Group)

Habitat

Various forest types in lowlands and hills. Also in thickets in gardens.

Behaviour

Diet

Feeds on insects (stick insects, grasshoppers, beetles, centipedes).
Forages mainly on the ground, occasionally ascends into trees.

Breeding

No information.

Movements

This is a resident species.
