Endemic to Southeast Asia; found from Burma east over Indochina to the Malay Peninsula and on Borneo and Sumatra.

There are 3 subspecies^[1]

• C. o. oculeus:

• South-east Myanmar and south-western Thailand to the Malay Peninsula

• C. o. ocellatus:

• Sumatra

• C. o. borneensis:

• Borneo
