Genus: Lamprospiza

This genus contains only one species, the Red-billed Pied Tanager from South America.

[edit] Taxonomy

Lamprospiza is a monotypic genus in the family Thraupidae.
Recent genetic data indicate that this genus is not closely related to other Tanagers. However, no sister-taxon or closely related family has been identified. Placement in present family therefore pending further information.
