Genus: Selasphorus
Description
A genus of small hummingbirds. Three of the species are limited to Costa Rica and Panama while of the rest, two breed exclusively in the USA and Canada, and the other breeds in the USA, Mexico and Guatemala.
Taxonomy
Selasphorus is a genus in the Family Trochilidae.
Calliope Hummingbird was formerly placed in the genus Stellula.
Bumblebee Hummingbird and Wine-throated Hummingbird were formerly placed in genus Atthis
