From Opus

Genus: Spizaetus

[edit] Description

Generally crested raptors from South America.

[edit] Taxonomy

Spizaetus is a genus in the family Accipitridae.

Genus Spizaetus viewedit
S. tyrannus Black Hawk-Eagle
S. ornatus Ornate Hawk-Eagle
S. melanoleucus Black-and-white Hawk-Eagle
S. isidori Black-and-chestnut Eagle

It has recently been proposed that one species from genus Spizastur and one species from genus Oroaetus should be moved to this genus. It has also been proposed to split this genus, resulting in Asian and African members being moved to genus Nisaetus. Clements and IOC accept this proposal, so does the Opus.
