Euchrepomis humeralis

Terenura humeralis

Identification

Ca. 10 cm

  • upper back and most of wing olive-green
  • wing coverts black with white tips forming two wing bars; male has rufous above the upper wing bar that might be hidden by scapulars
  • rump is rufous
  • tail dusky
  • rear underside yellowish-buff
  • breast, throat and sides of head grey, black line through eyes
  • crown and nape black in male, olive-brown in female

Distribution

South America: found in extreme south-eastern Colombia, eastern Ecuador, Peru, north-western Bolivia and south-western Amazonian Brazil.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Subspecies transfluvialis is not recognised by most authorities[2].

Habitat

Lowland moist forests (more often terra firma), mainly in canopy.

Behaviour

Feeds on small invertebrates, usually the pair or family is part of mixed flocks with other insect eaters.
