Distribution
South America: found in The Guianas, Suriname, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay and Argentina.

Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]:
- C. c. cucullatus:
- The Guianas and north-eastern Brazil (east to Pará)
- C. c. rubescens:
- C. c. fargoi:
- base of the east slope of the Andes in southern Colombia (Putumayo) and eastern Ecuador south to the Marañón Valley of extreme southeastern Ecuador (southern Zamora-Chinchipe) and northern Peru (Cajamarca and Amazonas); Urubamba Valley in south central Peru (Cuzco); and from northern Bolivia (La Paz) south to western Paraguay and northern Argentina (south to San Luis, La Pampa, and northern Buenos Aires)

Behaviour
Diet
They forage on the ground, but there is no information available about what constitutes their diet.
Breeding
They construct a cup-shaped nest from small twigs and vine stems, with dry grass and spider web.
