Asia: found in Russia, Siberia, Mongolia, China, Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Indochina,
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 2 subspecies[1]:
- E. m. migratoria:
- Eastern Manchuria to North Korea; winters to eastern China
- E. m. sowerbyi:
- Eastern China
An additional subspecies melanura is generally considered invalid[2].
Habitat
Mixed deciduous forest, forest edges, clearings, and parkland.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of seeds, fruit, berries and insects.
