Identification

12–13 cm

  • Green upper parts
  • Bronzy-green neck and rump

Distribution

North-west South America: found in south-western and central Andes of Colombia to north-western Ecuador

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Temperate cloud forest and forest borders.

Behaviour

Males are very territorial and aggressive.

Diet

They collect nectar from low-lying flowers and will visit feeders.
