A polymorphic species with Black-headed (most common), Red-headed (second most common) and golden (rare) found throughout range.

This is a monotypic species^[1], which is the only member of its genus.

Found in variable habitat, but grassy cover with taller trees and bushes seems to be common.

Their diet consists mostly of seeds.

Most are nomadic.
