Identification
Length: 3.75" (9.5 cm).
Male: steel blue above and throat, solid yellow below and on crown to well behind eye.
Female: olive above, yellow below.
Distribution
Central America: found from Nicaragua to eastern Panama.
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Dry scrub and savannahs in lowlands.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of berries, particularly mistletoe and small fruit.
