- Grallaricula flavirostris
Identification
One of the smallest of the antpittas at 10cm in length (4").
Typical Antpitta rounded appearance with long legs and short tail. Considerable individual variation, but in general has rusty back and breast, with buff belly. More southerly birds lack the chest stripes, and are overall darker. Pronounced eye-ring of the same ochre color as the chin and lores.

Habitat
Mid elevation humid montane forest.
Behaviour
Inconspicuous in the underbrush of dense, moist forests where it hops about on low branches and occasionally the ground. Individual in behavior; not found in flocks. It builds a cup-shaped nest of plant fibres and dead leaves. The eggs are oval, light brown with dark brown blotches.
