Bismarck Archipelago and northern Solomon Islands.

This is a monotypic species[1]

Heinroth's Shearwater has in the past been included as a part of Audubon's Shearwater.

Very little known. They are probably pelagic, spending most of their time at seas.

It is thought they may breed in inland mountainous areas.

Little information. They have been observed feeding with other species, such as noddies, close to shore.
