Central America: Panama, Trinidad and Tobago
South America: Colombia and Venezuela
Taxonomy
Placed in genus Pachysylvia by Clements.
Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]:
- H. a. aurantiifrons:
- H. a. helvinus :
- Tropical north-western Venezuela (Zulia to n Mérida and s Táchira)
- H. a. saturatus:
Habitat
Pacific lowlands, highly disturbed dry tropical forest with open pastures for cattle grazing;observed at heights around 20 m.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of insects often gleaned from the underside of leaves.
