Distribution

Asia and the Middle East

Breeds in western Afghanistan, southern Turkmenistan, south and southwestern Iran and eastern Iraq. Winters mainly in southern Iran, southern Pakistan, Gujarat (India), Saudi Arabia and in the western Gulf States. Occasional on migration or in winter in Turkey, Israel, and Egypt.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Thorn forest and toothbrush tree dominated scrub, grassland banni. Woodland near to water

Behaviour

Diet

Diet includes salvadora persica berries, occasionally supplemented with insects.
