  • Blackish-brown head
  • Yellow frontal area
  • White supercilium
  • Rufous-brown upperparts
  • Dusky wings

South America: found in the Andes of south-western Ecuador and north-western Peru (south to Lima and Huánuco)

This is a monotypic species[1].
Has been placed in genus Silvicultrix in the past.

Montane forest borders and secondary woodland with adjacent scrubby stream edges.

Their main diet consists of insects, caught from a low branch in flight sallies.
