Similar Species
It is similar in appearance to the larger Eastern Wood Pewee.
Likely to overlap with Acadian Flycatcher, Alder Flycatcher, Buff-breasted Flycatcher, Dusky Flycatcher, Gray Flycatcher, Hammond's Flycatcher, Western Flycatcher, Pine Flycatcher, White-throated Flycatcher, Willow Flycatcher, Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, Yellowish Flycatcher.

Distribution
Canada and the northern United States.
They migrate to Mexico and Central America. Essentially the only wintering Empidonax in the Yucatán
Taxonomy
Clements regards this as a monotypic species [1].
Habitat
Open deciduous or mixed woods.
Behaviour
Breeding
They make a cup nest on a fork in a small tree.
Diet
Diet includes insects taken in flight or gleaned from foliage, also berries.
