Mackenziaena leachii

Identification

The male is black with small white spots everywhere except on its throat and chest.

The female is black with large rufous spots on the crown and neck and smaller rufous spots elsewhere.

Distribution

South America: found in a small area overlapping south-eastern Brazil (Minas Gerais), eastern Paraguay and extreme north-eastern Argentina

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Atlantic Rain Forest, associated with stands of bamboo.
