Madagascar: occurs throughout the island.

This is a monotypic species[1].
Habitat
Primary and secondary forest, woodland, savanna and cultivated land, including banana plantations.

Diet
Their diet consists of insects, locusts, beetles etc; also their larvae and nestlings.
Vocalisation
Call:a long, shrill pee-ee-ee-ee.
Movements
Resident, possibly nomadic in some areas.
