Southern Africa:
Western Africa: found in Angola
Eastern Africa: Zambia
Southern Africa: Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, South Africa, KwaZulu-Natal
Taxonomy
It's sometimes placed in the genus Melaenornis.
Subspecies
Bradornis mariquensis has three subspecies:[1]
- B. m. acaciae
- Southern Angola to south-western Botswana and Northern Cape (South Africa)
- B. m. mariquensis
- Southern Botswana to western Zimbabwe and north-central South Africa
- B. m. territinctus
Habitat
Dry woodland savanna with acacia and tall thorns.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists of a variety of insects, including termites, flies, black ants and beetles.
