  • Light green body
  • Black mantle
  • Yellow face and forehead
  • Purple cheek patch
  • Three black throat spots
  • Dark blue tail
  • Green-black flight feathers
  • Olive-grey bill

Distribution

Widespread and locally abundant in interior of Australia.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Mulga scrubland, open dry woodland and grassland.

Behaviour

Diet

The diet includes grass seeds.

Breeding

They nest in a tree hole. The 4-6 eggs are incubated for 18-21 days, the young fledging about 30 days later.
