Nectarinia manoensis



Western Africa: Democratic Republic of Congo and Angola
Eastern Africa: Tanzania, Zambia, Mozambique and Malawi
Southern Africa: found only in Zimbabwe


This is one of the many Sunbirds that have recently been moved to the genus Cinnyris from the genus Nectarinia.


There are 3 subspecies[1]:

  • C. m. pintoi:
  • C. m. manoensis:
  • C. m. amicorum:
  • Mozambique (Mount Gorongoza)

IOC splits this species in Eastern Miombo Sunbird (Cinnyris manoenis with amicorum) and Western Miombo Sunbird (Cinnyris gertrudis, pintoi is a junior synonym of gertrudis).


Miombo woodland, gardens and edges of montane forest.
