Myiopagis caniceps

Identification

12–12·5 cm
The male is all grey above and has a white crown patch which is normally concealed. The wings are black with two white wingbars and broad white edges to the tertials. Below it is pale grey moving to white on the belly.

The female has a grey crown with a yellow crown patch. Otherwise it is olive above and the wing-bars are yellowish. Underparts move from grey on the throat to yellow on the belly.

Distribution

Centra and South America
Central America: occurs only in Panama
South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Guyana, French Guiana, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina

  • Tropical western Colombia and north-western Ecuador (south to western Cañar)

Habitat

Canopy and borders of humid forest.

Diet

Their diet consists of insects and small fruits.
