Identification
On male, notice white lower throat and belly separated by black markings, as well as black area with white spots on wing coverts contrasting with brown upperside.
On female, notice the buffy throat and spots in the black wing coverts.
Distribution
South America: found in eastern Brazil (Bahia, Minas Gerais, Espírito Santo, Rio de Janeiro).
Taxonomy
This is a monotypic species[1].
Formerly placed in genus Myrmeciza by Gill and Donsker.
Habitat
Moist forests and second growth at foothill elevation.
Behaviour
Mostly seeking food on the forest floor
