• Mid-brown back, wings and crown
• White and black flecked breast
• White upper breast
• White collar
• White ear patch
• Black eyes
• Black encircling the white ear patch
• Red, black-tipped hooked bill

Distribution

South America: found in Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.

Subspecies

There are 2 subspecies^[1]:

• N. c. uncirostris:

• South-eastern Peru to north-eastern Bolivia and adjacent western Brazil

• N. c. chacuru:

• Campos of southern Brazil, eastern Paraguay and north-eastern Argentina

Habitat

Clearings in forests or woods and dry savanna.

Behaviour

The diet includes insects and other invertebrates.
