Identification

53cm

  • Chestnut head and upper neck
  • Olive brown upperparts and chest
  • White lower underparts
  • Chestnut primaries
  • Bare red malar
  • Slate facial skin
  • Greenish-black tail tipped white
  • Slate legs

Distribution

South America: found only in northern Colombia.

Taxonomy

This is a monotypic species[1].

Subspecies mira is generally considered invalid[2].

Habitat

Scrubby deciduous forest, arid scrub and mangrove forests.

Behaviour

Diet

They forage in groups of up to 12 birds. No information on diet.

Breeding

The clutch consists of 3 creamy-white eggs.
