- New Guinea (Weyland, Nassau and Snow mountains)
- P. h. insularis:
- Mountains of New Guinea
- P. h. lecroyae:
- Mountains of east-central New Guinea
Habitat
Forests, generally at heights around 760–1650 m, though locally higher.
Behaviour
Diet
Mostly a ground feeder in areas of ferns and tall herbiage. Their diet consisting mostly of insects.
