South America: found in Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia, Brazil, Paraguay and Argentina.

- Lower Amazonian Brazil (eastern Amazonas and Pará)

- Tropical northern Venezuela (Falcón to Sucre and Monagas)
- P. c. parui:
- Tropical southern Venezuela (Cerro Parú in Amazonas)
- P. c. saturatus:
Habitat
Forests and woodlands in lowland and foothills up to elevations between 500 or 1500 m asl. depending on which country the description comes from.
Behaviour
Spends much of its time sitting on a perch before moving on. Food consisting of insects, berries, and small fruit is taken while perched and then gleaned from underside of leafs or when sallying.
