Description

This genus contains 4 parrotbills from Asia. They share:

  • A very deep bill, greater in depth than in length
  • Nostrils completely covered by bristles
  • Sexes are alike

Taxonomy

Paradoxornis is a genus in the Family Paradoxornithidae.
It was formerly included in Sylviidae.
Many species formerly placed in this genus have been moved to their own genera like Hemirhynchus, Psittiparus, Chleuasicus, Sinosuthora, Suthora and Neosuthora. It has formerly been placed in its own family, Paradoxornithidae.
