Upucerthia saturatior

Identification

Differs from Scale-throated Earthcreeper in having a shorter black bill, being overall smaller and darker, and it has a distinctive tail pattern.

Distribution

South-western Argentina and central Chile.

Taxonomy

Split from Scale-throated Earthcreeper.

Monotypic.

Habitat

Breeds in forest edge habitat.

Behaviour

Migrates across the Andes instead of north-south like the Scale-throated Earthcreeper.
