North-western Australia to western Queensland and north-western New South Wales

This is a monotypic species[1].

Habitat

Grasslands and desert.

Behaviour

They form huge flocks containing 10,000 or more birds.

Diet

Their diet consists only of grain from a variety of grasses and herbs.
