Brazil and Paraguay.

Taxonomy

Placed by Clements¹ and IOC² in genus Syndactyla.

Syndactyla dimidiata has two subspecies:¹

• S. d. dimidiata

• South-western Brazil (southern Mato Grosso)

• S. d. baeri

• South-eastern Brazil (Goiás) to extreme north-eastern Paraguay (Concepción)

Habitat

Moist lowland forests.
