Distribution
South America: endemic to Venezuela
Taxonomy
Subspecies
There are 3 subspecies[1]:
- P. f. formosa:
- Coastal cordillera of northern Venezuela
- P. f. rubidior:
- Mountains of north-eastern Venezuela (Anzoátegui, Monagas and Sucre)
- P. f. pariae:
- North-eastern Venezuela (Paría Peninsula)
Habitat
Humid to wet upland forests at heights around 800–2200 m.
Behaviour
Diet
Their diet consists almost entirely of small fruits, either whilst perched or in short hovering flights. They may sometimes join mixe species flocks.
Breeding
There is very little information. It is thought they breed early in the year.
