Identification
30cm.
Male: Red head, chest and belly, yellow cheeks, green and blue wings.
Female: green head, red/green chest and belly, green and blue wings.
Distribution
Southern Western Australia.
Taxonomy
Habitat
Open forests, sparse woodlands and farmlands.
Behaviour
The diet includes grass seeds foraged off the ground.
They nest in hollow tree trunks; the female incubates the eggs and leaves in the morning and afternoon to eat food found by the male.
